Brand Story
SUN OWN originated in 1975 from the "Shan Wang Industrial" foam materials business. The founder, Cheng Yu-tsai, who loved mountains and water, marketed his foam and water products globally. In 1984, his son, Cheng Kun, founded the ATUNAS brand, focusing on outdoor gear suited for Taiwan's environment and embodying the spirit of exploring nature and transcending oneself.
Driven by the core principle of meeting "the needs of enthusiasts," ATUNAS has continuously innovated. They introduced the first sleeping bag weighing only 850g, the first colored tent in Taiwan, packable jackets, and jackets with a light-as-an-apple feel made with Gore-Tex, becoming a pioneer in Taiwan's outdoor gear industry.
From 2006 to 2009, ATUNAS formed Taiwan's first systematically trained mountaineering team, which successfully summited Mount Everest, the highest peak on all seven continents, demonstrating Taiwan's mountaineering prowess. Afterward, they launched the "8000-meter Giant Peak Project" to cultivate more Taiwanese mountaineering experts and pass on the spirit of adventure.
Simultaneously, ATUNAS actively promoted Taiwan's mountain and forest activities, advocating for "Leave No Trace" principles. They organized public mountaineering events that set a Guinness World Record and introduced zero-waste circular apparel, implementing sustainable environmental practices.
With a focus on professionalism, innovation, and sustainability, ATUNAS has broken through geographical and climatic limitations, accompanying adventurers from Taiwan's oceans to the world's highest peaks, integrating outdoor exploration into daily life.
